WHAT IS GEOFENCING?
24/02/2025
Geofencing is a technology that allows fleet operators to receive messages or push notifications when a vehicle enters or exits a defined geographic area. What is geofencing? It involves studying consumer behaviors while considering their location. In practical terms, geofencing enables sending an alert or message to a person when they arrive at or leave a predefined area, on a compatible platform such as GEO4NET’s G4N-AVL fleet management platform. Geofencing is a geolocation technology used to track the movement of objects or people within a predefined perimeter. This system is commonly used for fleet management, allowing the creation of usage zones. When combined with GPS, geofencing triggers an alert whenever the virtual boundary of an authorized area is crossed. It is also used to monitor the use of an object, device, or person within a given area.
